Candidzone is seeking a highly competent Lifting/Rigging Engineer to join a major oil and gas brownfield project based in RLIC. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and supervising critical lifting operations to ensure absolute safety, efficiency, and full regulatory compliance. This role requires a strong technical background in crane capacity analysis, lifting plan development, and direct site execution support for complex lifting procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop, mathematically validate, and review comprehensive lifting and rigging plans, method statements, and job safety risk assessments.
- Perform detailed lifting studies, load calculations, and crane capacity checks utilizing engineering software and AutoCAD.
- Supervise Rigging Supervisors and Lifting Coordinators, providing direct, on-site technical oversight and leadership during critical and complex lifts.
- Evaluate lifting arrangements for heavy cranes, hoists, and specialized rigging based on precise load dynamics, equipment geometry, and physical site constraints.
- Inspect, verify, and maintain rigorous certification and inspection registers for all high-value lifting equipment and accessories.
- Coordinate seamlessly across construction, HSE, and project management teams to enforce strict procedural compliance.
- Prepare high-quality lifting drawings, sketches, and engineering calculations required for structural client and local authority approvals.
- Support the training, evaluation, and competency verification of site rigging crews and equipment operators.
- Lead or assist in thorough incident and near-miss investigations, establishing clear root-cause analyses and implementing corrective or preventive actions.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of dedicated experience in lifting and rigging engineering within the oil & gas industry, heavy industry, or major construction. Proven, hands-on experience working specifically within oil & gas brownfield projects is mandatory.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent technical discipline).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of QatarEnergy standards/codes and RLIC site regulations and safety guidelines.
- Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in AutoCAD or similar drafting packages, with preferred experience using specialized lifting and rigging analysis software.
- Certifications: Industry-recognized lifting, rigging, or safety certifications are highly preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, stakeholder coordination, and technical problem-solving skills under high-pressure site conditions.
