Job brief

Candidzone is seeking a highly experienced Senior Telecommunications Engineer to act as the Lead Engineer on major design and EPC projects within the global energy sector. In this critical role, you will take full responsibility for all discipline-related technical and scheduling matters. Operating with minimal supervision, you will provide technical guidance to junior personnel and ensure the successful delivery of complex telecommunication engineering packages across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Lead Telecommunication Engineer, planning, scheduling, and coordinating all related engineering activities for assigned projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve discipline job specifications, design deliverables, and technical details.
  • Prepare requisitions for the inquiry and purchase of high-value, complex equipment and subcontracts.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations, formulate vendor selection reports, and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for specialized telecommunication packages.
  • Monitor project compliance with applicable codes, client standards, and accepted engineering practices.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with other engineering disciplines and allocate sufficient resources to meet project goals.
  • Lead weekly progress and technical problem-solving meetings, acting as the primary liaison with client personnel for technical resolutions.
  • Prepare engineering progress reports, CTR (Cost Time Resource) estimates, and assist in technical proposal development.
  • Undertake short or extended-term assignments to site or client offices for technical management during the commissioning stages.

Requirements

  • Experience: Typically 10 years of proven engineering experience specifically within the oil and gas industry.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering.
  • Certifications: Must hold a valid Qatar Engineering license (MME/MMUP/UPDA). EIT or PE Certification is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge: Deep familiarity with oil and gas industry standards, codes, and accepted engineering practices.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and technical leadership abilities. Capable of working effectively in multi-disciplined teams with a results-oriented, customer-focused mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
