We are seeking a highly competent and proactive Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in road and highway construction to support the site supervision team in Qatar. In this role, you will assist the Resident Engineer in overseeing field operations, monitoring contractor compliance, and managing technical quality checks for major paving, grading, and utility integration works. The ideal candidate will combine a strong civil engineering background with practical site experience to ensure that infrastructure delivery meets established design criteria, safety rules, and project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Resident Engineer in directing on-site construction supervision and coordinating daily inspections for major road, highway, and asphalt works.
- Monitor contractor compliance with approved engineering drawings, method statements, project specifications, and local quality standards.
- Review contractor submittals, materials inspection requests (MIRs), and work inspection requests (WIRs), reporting variances promptly to senior management.
- Conduct field inspections of structural layers, sub-grades, asphalt layouts, road markings, and integrated underground utilities.
- Identify site bottlenecks, track daily progress against established schedules, and help formulate practical corrective measures to avoid project delays.
- Coordinate with site safety officers to ensure strict adherence to traffic diversion plans, permit-to-work (PTW) protocols, and local health and safety rules.
- Help maintain meticulous project documentation, including daily construction logs, site diaries, and material test registers.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 6 to 8 years of overall professional civil engineering experience, with at least 3 to 5 years dedicated specifically to road works, highways, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Regional Experience: Prior professional experience within Qatar or the broader GCC region is a distinct and highly valued advantage.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of road construction methodologies, earthworks, drainage layouts, and civil engineering specifications.
- Certifications: Enrollment or registration with the Qatar Engineering Committee (MME/MMUP/UPDA) is preferred.
- Status: Must be locally available in Qatar with a valid Qatar ID (QID).
- Skills: Excellent field management, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to coordinate between site contractors and design consultants.
