Job brief
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Irrigation Engineer to design, oversee, and manage the execution of large-scale irrigation systems for major infrastructure, landscaping, and public realm projects in Qatar. In this role, you will take full technical ownership of hydraulic calculations, network testing, and site installation, ensuring water efficiency and strict compliance with project specifications. The ideal candidate will combine advanced engineering knowledge with a strong track record of managing subcontractors and coordinating with local authorities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end installation, testing, and commissioning of primary and secondary irrigation networks, pumping stations, and automated control systems.
- Review, verify, and approve irrigation design drawings, hydraulic calculations, shop drawings, and material submittals to ensure full technical compliance.
- Coordinate daily on-site activities with landscaping and civil infrastructure teams to avoid utility conflicts and optimize project timelines.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring that works are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with international quality standards.
- Conduct strict quality control inspections and pressure testing for pipelines, valves, and irrigation components before final handovers.
- Coordinate directly with client representatives, design consultants, and local municipal authorities to secure necessary inspections and project approvals.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, daily site logs, variation assessments, and progress metrics for senior management.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 10 to 12 years of overall professional engineering experience, with a strict focus of at least 5+ years dedicated to large-scale infrastructure, main irrigation lines, and commercial landscaping projects.
- Regional Experience: Prior professional experience within Qatar or the broader GCC region is a distinct and highly valued advantage.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in hydraulic modeling, automated irrigation control systems (Central Control / SCADA), water conservation practices, and high-pressure pumping systems.
- Certifications: Enrollment or registration with the Qatar Engineering Committee (MME/MMUP/UPDA) is highly preferred.
- Status: Must be locally available in Qatar with a valid Qatar ID (QID).
- Skills: Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving abilities, with outstanding technical communication and reporting skills.
