Job brief

Candidzone is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Manager of Engineering on behalf of a leading global energy services organization. Reporting to the Group Director of Engineering Services, you will provide critical technical leadership and management oversight to ensure the highest quality of engineering deliverables across the complete project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will drive departmental initiatives, optimize resource allocation, advance engineering tools, and act as a senior technical authority to ensure successful project execution and continuous business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management oversight for conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases, ensuring all deliverables (calculations, equipment specifications, data sheets, drawings) meet stringent quality standards.
  • Assign, balance, and forecast corporate manpower needs across multiple projects to ensure optimal resource utilization and engineering execution across global offices (including Doha and Houston).
  • Act as a senior technical authority in client-facing meetings, technical clarifications, and engineering review sessions, while actively participating in business development initiatives.
  • Assist in proposal development by evaluating project needs, developing deliverable lists, and validating discipline-level engineering manhour estimates, staffing plans, and resource curves.
  • Provide technical input to cost, schedule, and execution strategies during proposal and bid phases to ensure realistic alignment with regional execution norms.
  • Identify and communicate engineering-related risks, scope growth, and change impacts affecting cost, schedule, and manpower.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with federal/state codes, corporate standards, and the specific requirements of QatarEnergy, regional NOCs, and Middle East/Africa clients.
  • Develop departmental goals, evaluate new tools/software, update procedures, and manage the career development and performance reviews of the engineering team.

Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years of comprehensive engineering experience, with demonstrated success executing projects in the Middle East & Africa region (including work with NOCs and PMC/EPCM organizations). Must have pipeline field experience in routing and construction.
  • Education: Minimum B.S. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related field (an Advanced Degree is highly preferred).
  • Certifications: Must hold a valid Qatar Engineering license (MME/MMUP/UPDA).
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of industry design codes and standards with the ability to apply them directly to pipeline designs. Strong working knowledge of relevant engineering software.
  • Skills: Proactive, forward-thinking, and results-oriented with excellent business acumen. Possesses strong technical judgment, exceptional organizational abilities, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
