Job brief

Candidzone is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented NDT Engineer to join our quality team, specializing in rotating machinery and turbomachinery inspection. In this role, you will perform critical non-destructive testing and QA/QC inspections on high-value assets such as turbines, compressors, and pumps. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical knowledge of international inspection codes, a strong background in oil and gas projects, and the ability to accurately detect structural anomalies during crucial maintenance and refurbishment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
  • Inspect critical turbomachinery components, including turbines, compressors, pumps, shafts, impellers, seals, and bearings.
  • Identify and document surface and sub-surface defects such as cracks, corrosion, erosion, and fatigue damage.
  • Support workshop and field QC inspections during complex equipment overhauls and refurbishment activities.
  • Generate precise NDT reports, maintain detailed inspection records, and ensure calibration logs for all testing equipment are up to date.
  • Ensure all testing procedures and outcomes strictly comply with ASME, API, ISO, and ASTM international engineering standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with QA/QC Engineers, workshop technicians, and client inspectors to ensure seamless project quality alignment.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree, Diploma, or ITI in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Certifications: Must hold valid ASNT / PCN / ISO 9712 Level II Certification.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in rotating machinery or turbomachinery inspection, backed by a strong QA/QC background in oil and gas projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation. Deep familiarity with standard inspection codes and structural standards.
  • Status: Must be locally available in Qatar with a valid Qatar ID (QID) and prepared to join immediately.

    Preferred Skills

    • Practical experience dealing with specialized turbine and compressor refurbishment workflows.
    • Familiarity with advanced NDT methods such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) or Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD).
    • Basic foundational knowledge of metallurgy and component failure analysis.
